So your saying that the 5.3's have small valves. I thought they had 2.00/1.55's, I thought it was just the 4.8's that had small valves.
[/b]
I think they have the 1.890 intake and 1.55 exhaust. 4.8/ 5.3.
6.0L , LS1, and I think the LS2 have the 2.0 intake and 1.55 Exhaust. If I am wrong someone please correct me so I will know in the future.

When CC vol decreases, compression rises.

You shaved your heads 0.010... your compression rose.

GOt ya, I've always been told that the LS1's had bigger combustion chambers of course, therefore applying those to 5.3's would lower the compression. Any idea what the compression would be with my setup? That of which being 5.3 with ls1 heads and 0.010 deck

Ah yes, 5.7 LS1 heads have what... a 67cc chamber and I think 4.8/5.3 have about a 62cc. Actually your compression probably dropped, even with 0.010 removed. And hurt midrange torque as the intake valve are too large now.

LS1 heads are 66.67cc with 2.00 and 1.55 valves
5.3L truck heads 61.15cc with 1.89 and 1.55 valves

Sounds like the 5.3 head would be better with a little bigger intake valve.

I wouldn't go larger with a 3.78" bore.
