Hello I'm just checking in. A little about myself. I'm a hotrodder. I have a 55 Chevy with a 1996 Vortec 454 and 700r4 trans. I'm currently building a 1958 Chevy Truck. A friend of mine just gave he what he believes is a 2002 Vortec Engine and Trans for next to nothing. I'm trying to verfiy the year of the engine the trans is a 4l60E.

The number on the block is C2603532
The number on the head is 1086N2083678

Anybody have an idea?

Not me. What casting number in on the head? There should be a three digit number on the top side of the head near the end. The engine size will be cast into the back of the block. Usually there will be a cast date embossed into the block casting somewhere. I'd guess the engine to be 2-3 months newer than the cast date.
