Hey guys, I know its not a LS based engine but the 2002 PCM is 1220041 p/n out of a 2002 Chev. 2500 cargo van with the L31 Vortec 350 also controls some GEN III stuff.

I have a 1997 RCSB 350 4l60e Hooker Comps, Ed Wright tuning L35 torque converter, marine intake with 24 lb injectors running at 62psi. My truck currently uses the 97 PCM, I am wondering on the use of the newer PCM, for dual octane tuning and the use of LS1 edit.

    1. Are the sensors off of the 2002 L31 350 going to be the same as my 1997 L31 350?

    2. I know the pinouts are different between the 2 PCM's, can I splice in the new computer into the "old" truck? I know its HARD, can it be done? I have allready spliced in the 8 24 lb/hr injectors to the stock 97 injector drivers, with no probs.

    3. I see that Tunercat now supports the 96-05 trucks(even for different sized injectors), but I have heard that the makers of LS1 Edit now have Truck Edit and they have support for the 01-05 Vortec L31 350, along with the 496 and the 4.3 v6.

    4. Has anyone heard of this?

    5. what are the highest rev limiter settings anyone has seen while using self tunes? What did the tach. read?

    6. What are your guys opinions/ comments on this?

thankyou in advance, Ive lurked here for quite a while

Well I have the marine injection system and intake installed. I'm pig rich from my 24 lb injectors replacing the stock 19lb poppets.

I need info on the newer PCM so I could get Allen to tune it.

    Well a 411 PCM from a 2001 L31` Vortec 350 powered Chevy fullsize van will indeed power a 1998 Vortec 350 truck.

The 5800 rpm rev limit of the black Vortec PCM's hasnt been broken. Now if you use EFILive, HPTunerts and of course Tunercats 2 can be used to tune it, so far a 1998 Vortec 305 with twin turbos and the 411 PCM has seen 6200 rpm, this beats the black PCM's limit of 5800 rpm.

    peace

Where does everyone get 5800 from? I was able to program my 97 to 6000 and If I remember correctly it would go past 6000 with the custom made box. I still have the programmer and custom tuned chip. I'll verify this to make sure but 5800 sounds awful low but then again I'm getting older and more senile! I'll let you know what it does as soon as I find someone with another truck I can tune on. If I"m wrong, I'm wrong. LOL

Ok, I verified and I can tune up 4800 to 8000 RPM in 100 RPM increments on the 97 PCM. I can also tune idle 600 to 1500 RPM. The 5800 is BS.

There was a member here, username PSWired that told me about this website. He also did a Gen III conversion in his OBS Z71. Came out really nice.
