Thread: Another Mass new guy

  1. #1
    Hello all,

Just wanted to say hello. I have been reading over your forum about LS1 swaps and decided I should join up.

Right now I own a 96 Z71 5.7 RCSB w/5-speed manual. It has a powerdyne SC on it right now. I had always thought of stroking this motor, but now that I am reading here I think a 6.0 would be pretty cool in there.

I would really love to swap in a T-56 tranny and somehow keep the 4wd. I have read up on some stuff about divorce mount transfer cases, but didn't get too far. Everyone just laughs and looks at me funny (why would you want to do that???) So if anyone has some info on that I would love it.

Anyway, I won't be much help with the LS1 stuff, but I am here to learn.

I drove a Lightning for a couple years, and my brother has an LS2 GTO.

Well, thanks for reading, I will be talking to you.

    Dan

Welcome. Divorced transfer cases are great because you can use any transmission in front of it.

Thanks for the welcome. Red, if you have more info on that divorce mount transfer case let me know. An OBS 4x4 6L T-56 sounds pretty good to me.

Check out the Atlas transfer cases. Those things are indestructible. They have a unit that's set up to be used as a stand alone type configuration.

Well I was thinking about buying an SS, but if I can just swap a 6L in this truck it should be fine for a few more years....

Welcome. That could make a nice sleeper putting the 6l in it.
