I've gotten a lot of peoples input on this (Allen's, Billy's, and the other Allan at Futral) and have got some vried opinions. Nothing bad per say, but varied. Anyway, it's working out pretty good, so I'm going to go through with it. The cam is a Futral 218/228 564-577-116 lsa. A larger exhaust duration than normal, whcih is what I've gotten the varied responses on. Futral said the larger duration helps on stock manifolds and even if upgraded to headers wouldn't really affect anything negatively. He said it should give me really good low-midrange (same thing "our" Allen said... ) without affecting the top end too much. I pick it up tomorrow in K.C. where I happen to be flying into for work, so that worked out good, and I'm getting it for $225.

Only 'dilemna' is I just bought Z06 springs off Ebay and it looks like I need Comp 918's and maybe (differing opinions on this as well) hardened pushrods.

I'm definitely buying the cam but would still like your guys input/ideas/experience/etc.

Get the 918s and hardened pushrods. Hold off for the longer pushrods until after testing your stock ones in it for correct length. If you have access to a micrometer or calipers, measure the smallest diameter on the cam lobe on the new cam and your old cam. 1/2 the difference between the two is how much you need to change the length of the pushrod, if any. Stock is 7.400. If the new cam lobe is smaller you will need a longer pushrod.

Thanks Red...When I was talking to Futral they said the stock length rods should work with this cam but said I would probably want to get hardened ones.

I guess throwing a Viagra in with my next oil change won't have the desired effect though huh...

TRT is doing the install and yeah, I'd like to get it dyno'd prior and after. I think they know a guy near them with one...

That'll probably never happen on this truck since I use ot for work so much. Maybe if I had one that was strictly for play.

I want to get the cam in, get some headers on, change to synthetic fluids, get a shift kit and servo, put a stall in, and that'll probably be the end of the line as far as performance mods go.
