Why do you want to keep lift low? What rear gears and tire height?
I think a 220/224 low lift will get you close if your under 3500lbs it should be fine with no stall. Although a trailblazer I6 stall is about $100 and very helpful. I would suggest milling the heads and a mild P&P if its in the budget. A lil head work with a cam will get you over the 300hp goal.

I want the lower lift for valve spring life. I will be running a 27.5 inch tire with 3.73 or 3.90 gears I haven't decided yet it will be mostly street driven so I want to keep the cruising Rpms down. Will the smaller cam not reach my hp goal? And what company's 220/224 cam do you recommend ,most say to use a stall with that size . Who sells the trailblazer stall

That is the cam I am referring to even allows for LS6 springs. I believe a member here was running one sans stall with 3.42 gears and pulled great times in DD street trim. With 390s and a tb stall you will love that setup. Again to hit over 300rwhp you will need a lil head work to be for sure. If you were running a 224/228 .581/.581 LSA112 you might hit over 300rwhp, but that needs a good size stall.

Remember howards will custom grind any cam you want for 40$ over their normal pricing, unlike most cam suppliers that charge outrageous prices for. Custom cams with a decent lift.

It has the stock 41 frame under it with the front cut off and the 79 tran am front clip welded in it overlaps about two foot which makes a very stiff frame. It has the trans am 403 tranny and rearend as well. The steering column and harness is out of the car but now I am grafting the 5.3 harness into the ignition so the only wires left from the car are in the column and the gauge lights. I am running an aluminum gauge cluster with dolphin gauges

So howards cams are good ? I've never ran one but can't see paying 450 just for the cam from other suppliers

I run howards, all the guys in my area have howards, and most the old school guys up here run howards, I run howards cam, springs and pushrods.
