Ended up convincing her to let me stain some plywood dark cherry. I've got the main panels on. Starting the trim next.

Got her skin off and started the new one. I'm no carpenter, but I think in the end it'll look fine. Got called in to work so I can't go any further today.

I realize the edges don't meet. But the plywood is level and trim will cover the corners.

Checked out a little stain before I head to work. It'll end up being this color. This is two coats, 10 minutes each. Rustoleum Dark Cherry.

Got my daughter a 10 gallon freshwater tank about 3 years ago now. Right when we got it I wanted to get a big (probably only 50-60 gallon) saltwater tank for myself. I have started to get the itch again and seeing all this makes me really want to get back into it.

Just placed an order with BRS for my RO/DI and 50lbs of Fiji. Should have 130lbs of dry rock now. LFS has live rock for 6$ a pound, so will probably pick up 10lbs there. Protein skimmer and lights are all that is left. I'm pretty dead set on the Aquatic Life 6 bulb 48" lights and the Octopus NWB 150 skimmer.

If your gonna drop the coin on the AL fixture, might as well buy the dimmable led fixtures with built in timers on ebay for about half the price. Most are even customizable to throw in uv, cyan, and red led chips in case you decide to go with coral in the future.

Got a link? Definitely going with some corals and if the LED will allow me to do SPS on the bottom half of the tank, I wouldn't be against it. The problem is... most ebay stuff is junk and I do NOT want to skimp on lighting.

The first fixture is a complete DIY led chip setup where you can mix and match for the color spectrum of your choice for 180 shipped!! Take a look the others as well as they may suit your needs too.

At first I was leary about ordering from china, then I read a 160+ page thread on reefcentral about these fixtures and how well they're holding up for the price.

I ordered mine dimmable with 25 cool white, 26 royal blue and 4 uv with built in dual moon lights for 178 shipped. from china it arrived in 6 days, I have had it for over 6 months and over two different tanks with no problems. If I didn't love my metal halide fixtures so much I would have 3 hanging over my tank instead of just one.
