Heater core issue

Have an 03 Chevy.
Heater does not work. Thought the air door maybe.
But after idling for 20min. I noticed only one heater core hoses are hot. The passenger side one is still cold.
My 07 both hoses are hot.

Think the core is plugged? Or could be setting more simple?

Really don't want to replace the core unless I know that's it.

If you think it's the core, see if you can push water thru it.

Unhook the hoses and blow thru both sides with a water hose. I had to do that on my truck about once a year .

I will try that. Is there a tool to remove those push lock hose end. Or do you just cut them off. Trying not to butcher the truck to bad yet.

Well notice coolant level was low. Am guessing it had a vapor lock?
Filled the tank ran for 10min. Got to operating temp. Felt both hoses were hot. Heater working.

Mine is starting to smell terrible I hear it's a byatch to replace. Sorry to thread jack, but how hard is it to replace?

6-8 hours for a complete job working at a medium pace...with no snags...... and good way to check for a faulty hear core is to feel both hoses, both should be hot when engine is at operating temp, if only one hose is hot it is either (a) low coolant, (b) clogged heater core, (c) air bound, (d) broken lol
