    since you have access to a 5.3 i would just swap that in and then get a tune

    put a 5.3L in it with cam, hardened pushrods, tune and longtube headers. THe 4.8L is anemic without a lot of work and with it's short stroke crank has a hard time making torque to pull hills even with an empty truck.

    X2 or 6.0 with the mentioned above. I hate my 4.8.

    5.3 and 4:10s would be a good combo I bet.
