ok, here's how we set the PSI for our slicks so it may apply for you as well.

Set a base PSI of around 20
Find a relative clean, slick patch of concrete. i.e. we use our shop floor.
power brake to leave a good footprint and measure your contact patch until a good, even grip is achieved. Solid all the way across with no thin patches in the middle or sides.
Adjust your pressure up or down until the contact sweet spot is found.

Running a low psi just to get a wrinkle wall doesn't help if your tire isn't grabbing in the center.

Why waste your money on a drag radial when you can just get a full slick and there will be no excuses

You can't roll slicks on the street when it rains. It's hard enough with D/R when it rains.

Ray, you'll have to forgive Justin, he's got a dinosaur brain. J/k Justin. I think we're all aware that slicks suck in the rain

Sometimes we can't afford both. But I do see what your saying. Slicks are a much better option.

i agree with you on that part about the price, but when i was going to buy some drag radials they were alot more than a set of full slicks

Keep in mind drag radials won't last for shit if you leave them on for daily driving. My tool of a neighbor in college had some on his TA and couldn't figure out why they wouldn't last very long.

my 555r's made it 12,000 miles. not bad IMO. my current build will be a drag radial truck. it will be nice to drive to the drag strip, tech in and drive directly to the staging lanes without ever getting out of the truck. also no need to worry about your nice wheels/tires and jack laying in the pits while you're out making passes.
