Thread: 5.3 into a 1990 OBS with a 5 speed

That was the original plan to put a 5.3 in it while I built the 6.0.
But fuck it might as well just go with the 6.0 and buy parts here and there. I'll measure the input shaft and the clutch tomorrow. Everything is at my dads house. I hate not having enough room.

    P/N's
    Flywheel Oreilys $60 NFW1050
    Pilot Bearing Napa $20 6302-VSP43
    Release Bearing Ebay $20 1377C
    Clucth Stock
    Pressure Plate Stock

If all of this is for the 4.8/5.3, then you will need a LQ9(6.0l) pilot bearing. How does the pressure plate fit on the flywheel? does it look uniform or ? what size (diameter) clutch is it? 11 inch or 12 inch. But you havent changed transmissions? still have the nv3500, right? I went on Centerforces' website and really the only diff is pilot bearing and PP/disc diameter from 11-7/8 to 12 inch. no need to measure as long as you havent changed on me again! lol good luck! and stay on it this time and get it done so we can race!!

also depending on what year 6.0l you have, you might need a spacer so that you have good clearance between the flywheel/starter and that the clutch releases properly. some 6.0l dont stick out as far as others

    OK
So I found the pilot bearing for a 2001 camaro ss
    Timken
    part #
    57080
    Is this what i need.
What i can do is get my digital calipers and measure the crank and then go to the parts store and measure the camaro bearing

No. The 2001+ 6.0l engines are the same as the rest of the LS series as far as trans depth goes.
