I'm probably going to do this soon to. Pull my cam out and sell to get money to through towards the turbo build. Excited to see what it does with my stall and a stock cam after reading this. The truck seamed to pull good up top from the factory but it was always a down low issue I wasn't happy about. Got my intercooler and returning my 4.56's for some other parts of the turbo build. I will miss the lopey race car sound but the whistle of the turbo will be worth it.

the 228 like you said has a lot more topend vs the stock cam.
i don't see anything odd about a stock cam feeling stronger off the line vs that 228 cam.

but i bet the 228 is faster and pulls harder mid range and up.
Yea it did but it feels really good now. Will running the 228r tune hurt anything for now. Im scared to change anything right now because it runs so good?

I had every hotrodder in town running scared thinking i had a 10 sec truck the way it sounded. Their was alot of talk around here about what i had. I never told anyone anything and it made it fun for a while. Little did they know I would have a hard time turning a 13 sec pass and it was a 200,000+ mile 5.3. Next on the to do hotrod list is a 9 sec ls powered notch back and to finish my 88 s10 with a 6.0.

Glad you're happy with the changes! I know what you mean about the weird looks when you're at an idle at a light or in a parking lot somewhere. Especially up here where you don't see any modded trucks. Had to turn it off the other day going through the mcdonald's drive thru, repeated my order twice and the lady was like could you please turn your truck off I can't hear you.
