All I can say is we try very hard to make these events happen in Houston. We will continue to support Nelson and LS1 truck shootout, but you can not compare the amont of spectators. We are still learning on how to manage a crowd but like SSThis said we expected 5000 ppl and we got 8000. We did listened to the feedback after October and ppl requested a return lane and ppl got what they wanted,Did we expect ppl to move the barriers?"NO" but things happen so off to the drawing board we go and make a new game plan.-Mario

That a lot of people to control!! Our main problem was WORTHLESS OFFICERS (15 were on site) People will always talk about the bad and never about the good things that when on, there is good feed back also on HPT also

But anyways for Oct Madness we will not advertise as much and keep the crowd down, spectors will be parked on the circle track side eliminating the cruising and limit the beer being brought in, we are trying to get HPD officers in there instead of the worthless one we had. We do put up feed back threads and ask members there opinions and do something about it. We live and learn!! Things will get better just need to make changes

Sorry to the ones that didn't enjoy this, I for sure worked hard in it! And will do my best to improve it

I wasn't there, but I don't think people are upset at your planning boys. You've put in a lot of hard work, but you can't control 8500 people with 15 rent a cops. I doubt you are ever able to CONTROL the people. This is just the type of thing that happens when people get drunk around things they want to show off.

You boys put in a lot of hard work. We weren't really comparing the two. We know that our crowd is much smaller for one thing. Also, the general attitude of the two sites is completely different. I think the plans you have to move non racers elsewhere will cut down on some of the BS that happened and clean up your event a little. I'm like Zach though. If stuff like that continues, someone is going to get hurt or die... I wouldn't bring my friends or family to an event like that.

key word is IF, there intentions are to clean it up and make it better, itll have a more controlling enviroment im sure next time! one thing the staff of hpt has really stressed this go round is wanting it family oriented, like a national event, and ill bet it happens next time specially with parking being put on the circle track side! people would have to walk through gates instead of driving in and doing what they want!!

good luck guys, see y'all in october!

they werent rental cops, they were texas DPS officers, baytowns finest!!!! and i promise ya the staff got ripped off by there efforts to help control the event, they were just plain worthless!!

I have no doubt that their efforts will make a difference. By rent a cops, I meant worthless officers that stand around looking special.

I'm still not going! If one of my kids got ran over their would be a killing. I will keep going to ls1truck shootout and have a good time. Better crowd all around.

this is why its better to have the shootout in SAR....no car show/no cruising/no bs..just RACING!

This is exactly what I said when I went to october truck madness last year. I usually have my kids with me, and if I would have... I would have left w/o making a pass. It still made me nervous all the retards doing burnouts and flying by 2' from my truck at 60 mph... Sorry to keep with the bad, but the event would have to have a few successful turnouts before I'd consider going back. Just me tho. I undersrand it's a money thing, and 8000 retards pays alot more than a few hundred serious racers. Just my .02
    single digit street truck

    for build info

The best advice I have ever heard:... Only take B( . Y . )ST advice from someone that is CURRENTLY running a turbo setup close to, or bigger than what you want......

We prefer to have the racers happy then having a crowd because No racers and we won't have an event

Personally I think youre fighting a losing battle given the demographic that shows up to your event. Youd have to have a ridiculous amount of security on site, no vehicles on site that arent racing, no alcohol and no car show. Im pretty sure if you made the event that way, you wouldnt have anyone there.
