the egr block off plate is about 3/16" thick, and then there is a rubber plug under it that actually block the open hole. The polished piece is just for looks, I didn't want to see the ugly rubber plug.

Thanks guys for the comments, I was kind of bummed out today but this made my day, I just wish I had more to contribute to this club. Being a newbie sucks!

I bought a ZOOPS LS1 engine cover on ebay last week for $125, so I got it prepped and sanded today and I'm going to paint it and clear coat it tomorrow. I found out that the 98-04 Blazer/S10 ecm tray is the exact same thing as the LS1 tray, also the 2.2 and 4.3 are both the same setup. I went to pull a part and pulled one for $2.12, I am also going to mount it on the passenger side fenderwell with some spacers underneath to level it.

I got my engine mounts today finally, so tomorrow I finally get to do a test fit of the engine, more pictures coming tomorrow.

Well it took me 3 hours to get the motor in the mounts today, they came with no instructions and they had no markings as to how they mounted. I'm not the only one that wasn't happy with these mounts either, several guys on other forums were complaining about the same thing.

I got the engine in and ran into quite a few snags, clearance behind the motor is about 1". The bellhousing will not even come close to mounting to the back of the motor, but I have a plan to make it all work. I don't want to elaborate because If it doesn't work I don't want to look like an idiot.

One question though?? This is a true LS1 being it's a 5.7, are there dimensional differences between F body LS1's and say an LS motor out of a GTO or Trailblazer SS?? The weird thing is everyone who is running those other motors mentioned nothing about clearance issues, and I'm just wondering why the F-body LS1 is so much different.

Anyways I'm kind of stuck now, so I will keep this thread updated as I find solutions.

They're all the same. You may have your's too far back or the trans tunnel was never meant for a 4L60e transmission with the V8 bellhousing.

Alright well that's reassuring that I'm not crazy, because I think I am the only one using an F-body engine for this swap. Trust me I would have loved to get ahold of a GTO motor, but around here that's at least $5,000 and I just didn't have it....

Well I measured it and it's only shy heighth wise about 1 1/2", so I am going to put a 3" body lift which I was going to do anyways for more header clearance lol. Now It will just be dual purpose, so my truck will have about a 10" lift on it which will look sweet. I know I won't be able to race it though, too top heavy....

Bought the input shaft for the 4l60e today from the transmission shop, and got a new mini high torque starter for the motor. Slow but sure.....

Finally got the engine cover perfect, I had to sand it all back down, and repaint and clear coat it. It is like a mirror, and these pictures make it look totally red which it is not. Got the transmission up on the engine stand, and all of the fluid drained out.
