Need some advice regarding 4L80E and gears

So it seems my 4L60E has bit the dust and I'd like to replace it with a mild 4L80E but I'm concerned about the loss of low end power due to the tall first gear. Currently I have 3.42's and 29" tires and it seems this combination isn't very desirable with a 4L80E, my truck will mainly be used for just having fun on the streets and the occasional drag strip run. I will also be taking it on the highway since it'll be my DD till I can pick up something else for a DD, so what gears would y'all recommend? I was thinking probably 3.90's but I'm not certain.

Future mods include a Vinci Trucker cam and a Yank 3200 and wayyyy on down the road probably a turbo.

Or would y'all just recommend that I rebuild my 4L60E?

    Thanks in advance fellas

If its just a daily that you like to play with I would just run a 4:10. 1/4 mile with a 80e and that tall of a tire likes a 4:56

Sounds like 4.11's or 4.30's it is...I'd most likely buy the gears from Ron's Machining and I've read some reviews on the USA Standard gears. Do y'all like them? I'd probably get a Valuetrac to go along with it

i got the 4.11s and valuetrac from rons and they seem to be doing great. I was going to get the 4.30s but they were more $ because USA Standeard dont make a 4.30 so I would have to use a more expensive brand.

Thanks for chiming in man! Sounds like that will be the setup I go with

How many miles do you have on your gears?

USA is a good brand. Ask any reputable gear installer, Just a different name on the box
