You will need a stall for the 80e, but you can sell the 60e and stall amd make some money back, also pulling the motor out to replace it with a less powerful one is borderline insane, fix the problem, the trans. Id save up some money and get an 80e, id say keep driving it til it pops, cus if youre just gonna park it, whats the difference, either way the truck is down.

Yea that's true..I was just thinking I could get a stock 5.3l around $800..that it might be cheaper going that route..cause the 6.0l in a fix body would be pretty sick, with a 6 speed behind it..but I'm just gonna drive the truck for now taking it easy..we'll see what happens,I've got tax money coming back..and would like another vehicle

    How do you drive?

Make sure you NEVER do any WOT downshifts. Keep an eye on trans temp. With a good cooler, it should stay below 180* at all times. When you do want to have some fun, make sure you move the shifter into Drive instead of Overdrive and still AVOID WOT downshifts.

Yeah I'd definitely do the 80e swap! You don't know how many trans repairs I do under warranty on 4L60/65/70 transmissions on STOCK trucks, some even with a 4.3 in front of them!

Yea I do alot of WOT down shifts!..that's probably what kills it..it has e-fans and a pretty big trans cooler, the temp stays pretty low..unless it's stop and go,but never gets to hot..it's a 99 so it just has drive, should I drop it down to 3rd?..also how can I stay away from WOT down shifts when already at a roll?..oh btw trans lost 3rd drive and od!..trailered back to the shop wendsday..hopefully there fixing for free again lol

Sounds like a good ol 3/4 clutch failure...

Yes, drop it into 3rd. As far as avoiding downshifts, learn what speeds the truck shifts into 2nd and 3rd at. Then when you want to hammer down, drop it into the right gear for the speed you're going, put the pedal through the floor aka WOT, then put the shifter into 3rd so the computer can do the shifting.
