Sorry for all the questions guys but I don't know to much about these type of conversions. I discovered that the 2001 5.3 and 4L60E that I am putting in had a transmission control module. I havn't heard anybody talk about this do you need it or can you get around it and still make it work right? One more question on the 5.3 there is a little black line running by the fuel lines. Is this the vapor line? Can it be blocked off and not used? If so what is the best way to block it? I am installing it in a 84 truck. Thanks ahead of time.

Never heard of such of a thing as a transmission control module in a 4L60E. The trans is controlled through the PCM not an external controller device. The 4L80E had a transmission controller in the diesel trucks.

I agree with RHB. If there's a control module it was probably added. Here is a link to an after market. Control Module Are you sure it's not a 96 - 2000 4L60E that came with a Vortec motor? They have a neutral safety switch on the linkage that looks like a control module. Here's a pic of my tranny that I put the longer linkage on and installed the neutral safety switch on.

Thanks guys I was looking in alldata.com and it said there was one up by the radiator that had two plugs that plugged into the fuse block. They may have been talking about the 4L80e or the diesel. Will have to check again. Does anybody have a solution for the little plastic line?
