The fact that they made all those pulls on a 4.8L instead of a 5.3 may have something to do with the survivability since there is much less torsional load on a shorter stroke. Nice numbers for sure.

Don't forget either that there is no telling what the bearing clearances were worn out to. Short stroke motor setup with loose bearing clearances with the proper oil selection will be hard to grenade. The stock pistons are harder than most forged pistons and will generally take more to break. However, when they do break they grenade into lots of tiny pieces. A forged piece will generally just deform and stay together. I think this could be a fun way to make tuns of power in a weekend car. But not in my DD!

Gotta to give the little 4.8 lots of props for that many runs at that HP

Yeah that looks like one of those glory pass builds though, don't get me wrong I love high horsepower builds, but that ain't the way to do it, haha.

Bolt it in a truck and try to do a couple passes.

Be like man did you see how fast I did the 1/8 mile in, man I coasted to a 11 second 1/4 mile at blah, blah, blah mph.

Really that's great man, what were the shakedown passes like? How did you do on the run before that one?

Umm, well you see that was the only pass I got to make, the motor blew on the first run.

Thats still a pretty sweet setup. I've been considering throwing a boosted 4.8 in my 66' Bronco project, especially since I found one in Odessa for practically free
