If you don't do your own work it gets pricey. Do you pay someone change the toilet paper in your bathroom, too?

Im pretty decent on engines and what not but gears is something I have not messed with much at all especially if lockers come into play. Also, I spend more time in the middle of the mountains then most, I would hate to be stranded due to me saving a few bucks, sometimes I have found its best to let a pro do it.

Point I was making is sometimes its not worth upgrading every single thing on a truck that may be not be best suited for my needs. I love power but need to pull a trailer long distances and not at 60 mph. This truck isn't the best on gas and only has a 22 gallon tank wich = lots of stops.

Doing your own work is great to a point, there is a point where some people will go and do foolish things they have no buisness doing and doing complete swap outs on stuff you have never messed with is that point of foolish things.

You pay someone to cut your hair too?

    4.10 w/ rear Auburn Locker
    4.10 w/ front Auburn possi

I just do too much highway at 75mph plus to bring myself to get 4.56's.

I just researched this pretty well and ofcourse you all are right, everyone I could find that went from 4.10's to 4.56 really felt the difference and not much affect on the gas, some actually gained mpg. I am not sure how the highway will be but it isn't often enough to change it. I think a solid 2500 rpms will be better then a ton of down shifting and making the engine work to maintain speed. It may be a few months because I am guessing about $2k for the total if I do it myelf maybe a tad under.

I looked up one of the sponsors Ron's (i think) any other brand reccommendation for the gears?

Thanks for the info! I have heard Auburns are good Chevy lockers and Detroit for Ford and posi up front any one?

4.56s and a 2800ish converter first! I would bet you don't lose mpg it may be better. I have 4.56s with 33s and a 2800 converter and would never change anything! Not sure the overdrive ratio difference in the 60 and 80e but at 70 I'm at 2350 rpm. I can pull a 20' trailer with a full size truck in od 70 mph all day and it will kill a set of tires. Hope I helped your decision you will be happy with it
