I AM surprised the CD broke, not surprised the converter broke after my very simple and correct diagnostic.

Well i made it about 20 miles and it acted up again. lost all the gears. i never got on it and i know the verter is a good one. so i got it home and pulled the tranny line....not a drop came out(yes the truck was running). when the tranny was out i pulled the pump and looked it over. no wear or damaged teeth... ideas? Good news is i didnt ruin a $1k stall.haha But now i have an extra 80e stall. And props to Chris. I had talked to him and he was going to fix it for free.

well if the pump is good & all the gaskets are good you should be getting psi from the pump unless the bolts holding the flex plate to the converter are broken

THe failure is definitely not making much sense... A converter failure actually made sense at first, but now????? We had a mustang one time where the pressure relief valve stuck open and dumped all the line pressure. I have not built a trans in quite a while, so not sure if this is even possible on the 4L80. Very strange how what ever is wrong fixed itself when you swapped converters. How was the converter clearance?

Comon man. Bolts to the converter broke?? We arnt 5 years old or using plastic bolts.... The circle d fit perfect. The PI needed a small amout of shimming. I'm kinda thinking like chris, maybe a valve is sticking or pressure is being bleed off by a faulty pressure control unit.. Maybe it setting a week or so freed up whatever was stuck for short period
