OBS LS1/6 headers

I can see where some type of mod has been made to the #2 and #6 tubes. They are bent higher up it looks like but that could be an optical illusion. The thicker 5/8" motor mount adapters give you a little more clearance at on the rear control arm eccentric. There have been so many issues with this problem wonder if they went on ahead and made a slight bend in these areas? They look awsome bro!!! What kind of wires did you use?

Notice the the difference between #2 & #6 tubes in relationship to the motor mount and upper control arm on my headers compared to vettetrucks. Actually if you look at his 1st pic and then mine, our #2 & #6 tubes are totally different

Also vettetruck are you sure you put your adaptor plates on right cuz your motor looks like it's sittin a lot further back than mine maybe it just looks that way in the pic, have you hooked up your driveshaft yet? I also looked at my S&P catalog & the pas. side type III header doesn't look like vettetrucks, it looks like mine so I think they've changed them.

My point exactly&#33; I wonder when they made the change motoxlifer? Hey what are the part numbers form S&P on your headers and vettetruck&#39;s? Maybe we need to compare since there is more than one type III header.

BTW, How many miles do you have on them? They look great&#33;

His adapters look right to me. They look just like mine but thicker.

Hey moto, I just noticed your motor is about and inch further up than ours.

moto, did you have to mod the frame or anything on the passenger side for the altenator with the engine sitting that far up?

This is the kind of technical differences I like to compare on installs. We might all learn something here. you can see where my adapters sit.

OK I just went & looked and my mounts are opposite from yalls. Everything except my headers went together perfectly. I didn&#39;t have to modify my driveshaft length or tranny crossmember position. Do you guys know if your driveshaft is gonna have to be shortened or not? As for the part # on the headers the catalog doesn&#39;t show a # but I don&#39;t think there are different types of type III headers, I think the type III is the G-body header. I&#39;ve had the motor in since Nov. 2005, notice the rub line on the #2 tube, that&#39;s where I turned it over on a rubber mat and beat the hell out of the bottom of the #1 tube I hated to do it but they wouldn&#39;t seal. Lookin back on it I should&#39;ve sent em back but I already had my exhaust done & I really didn&#39;t want to use stock manifolds.

I installed the mounts how S&P said to do them. I didnt have to modify anything else. My tranny located to the same mount and the drive shaft has the proper lenght. my sales invoice doesnt have a part # but simply says "COATED TYPE 3 HEADER 2 02&#39;S".

I had discussed these headers with S&P. It took a long time before I got a straight answer out of them. Supposedly they went out and test fit a set and they worked. So I ordered some.

BTW for any of you who are thinking of buying a set of S&P headers make sure you install the collector before you install the header as they are nearly impossible to do with the header installed. this will save time.
