    2007 L59 5.3/4L65E into 1948 Chev pickup

    I have installed a 2007 L59 5.3 and 4L65E transmission in my 1948 Chevy pickup. I used 2001 Camaro cast iron center dump exhaust manifolds to clear the frame rails. The Camaro exhaust manifolds has the O2 sensor in the manifolds above the outlet for the exhaust dump.

    Would this be a better location for the O2 sensors or should I weld in a bung and place the O2 sensors in the exhaust pipe about 12 to 15 inches from the manifold?

    I am not entirely sure on where O2s need to go, I know there are specifics on how far down from the manifold though.

    BUT SRSLY. Get some pictures of the truck! LOL

    Don't think it really matters to much where it goes. It'll be reading exhaust levels regardless of where its mounted. If the f-body manifolds have the mounting points in the manifold, I'd use them. If you want to hide the sensors underneath, you could do that as well, but keep in mind, they only work when they reach a certain temp. The farther they are away from the heat source, the longer they take to heat up. The exhaust will cool the farther it goes, so it will take a little longer before the ecm will switch to closed loop.

    If they get too hot they won't read either. Lots of aftermarket wideband o2s use special spacers to keep them cooler.
