Is it worth buying?

So ive been looking for 5.3L for my 93 1500 and i found one really cheap at a local yard but the 03 that its out of caught on fire so i went to go look at it, the intake and all sensors are melted. The truck has 78k on it, so my question is can i just throw a new intake on it and be good or could the fire have damaged internals?

You run the possibility of the plastic running down the cylinders. Not to mention the fact that the block was probably heated red hot in the process. Who knows what happened to it. You're probably better off waiting on a better one.

I would recommend finding another one if you don't plan on rebuilding. However, if you plan on rebuilding, it would be a perfect block. Just call it a very seasoned block. A deck job and an align hone would make it good as new.

They only want $150 for it, I don't mind rebuilding it i just didn't want to wast the money if this engine could be complete junk. So as far as it being junk thats not possible right?

Nothing that a machine shop can't fix. Just take that into consideration before you decide.
