+1 on a fluid change, also if it has a filter in one of the lines check to see if its full of gunk

Can't you drill out the main fitting? Or take out a spring?
i also use ATF instead. No real reason, just usually have a few quarts laying around the garage.

I have seen a few cars with aftermarket powersteering pumps and remote resivors, not sure if its do able on our trucks, or if it were would it even be worth the effort/money/time spent?

when i needed to replace my PS pump i had hydraulic assist steering put into mine and it came with a new pump. I can turn the wheels with my pinky finger now if im sitting agaisnt a tree and it moves the truck over.
