I have seen this floating around the site before, but didn't pay attention to what the big deal was about a trailblazer stall? Does it work as well as the guy on ebay claims? will it handle the load of a 400hp truck? I am just lookin for someone to say (yes buy it) or (no, waste of money) It would be cool if this was a good product and it would work good, since the ;price is reasonable. for a 3000 stall

I like the price but don't like that they are still huge/heavy. Converters like the Vigilante are only 10-1/2" diameter and weigh almost half of what a stock size convertor weighs. It's still an awesome deal, don't get me wrong. I had a stock size stall convertor in my previous truck, 2800 rpm Transmissioncenter.net model, and it was faster than this truck so far even with the 10.5" diameter 3600rpm Vig.

If the convertor was rebuilt with torrington bearings replacing all the thrust washers, it should be a quality unit, especially for the money.

you can get a brand new stall from the factory for 200+shipping. they are physically smaller than the factory stall converter(1600?) it will only stall to 2600 behind your 5.3 though. i have the trailblazer and want to get it restalled to 3000 next time i blow the transmission. ive never heard of a problem coming from these converters. awesome bang for buck IMO.

they wont stall to 3000 on every motor. torque converters stall higher depending on the torque of the motor...a good rule of thumb is to expect 23-2500stall for a 4.8, 25-2600 for a 5.3 and anywhere from 27-3000 behind a 6.0. it sounds like the trailblazer in the auction has been restalled by someone.

I talked with Dayco and they recommended a part #7732 2800 - 3200 rpm or a #7731 2300 - 2500 rpm with 4.10 gears. These coverters run about $300.00 and they are rollers. The tech dept said the 2800 - 3200 would stall around 2900 with the gears I have. If you do a lot of towing go with the 2300 - 2500. They also said these converters were better built than most aftermarket ones.

Who is Dayco and how might someone go about buying a stall from them? If the 2800-3200 stall would stall at 2900 with 4.10's then my 3.73's would probably wind up at 3000 (yes) or (no)?
Are the Dayco stalls better than the trailblazer?

Dayco is a factory replacement transmission company and their convertors would have to be purchased through someone like League City Transmission in Texas. You can't purchase directly from Dayco unless you are a dealer. League City Transmission gave me the Dayco 1-800 number and the part numbers I posted are what they recommended for late model 4L60E's. They steered clear of the Trailblazer converter because there are too many unknowns and various stall speeds. Not saying it won't work, it's just better to go with what is recommended. Dayco was very helpful and the price is right.
