i have a 02 silverado 5.3 4x4 that knocks when crunk and it drives me crazy. wanted to know what year 6.0 engine would be a direct fit 05 and up with harness ,ecm and throttle pedel. or would it be better to just rebuild the 5.3 .

was thiking about a complete pull-out engine,trans,harness and computer.
I am pretty sure any LS based 6.0l will fit and all you would need is a tune. I may be wrong and I am sure someone on here will have the correct answer. Try farmtruc
go for a 2002+ 6L so that you don't get the older model that had cast iron heads or longer crankshaft extension, allowing you to bolt it directly to your current transmission. You will need to swap your intake over to the 6L since it will have all things required to work with your current setup. Yes, a tune is a must have item.
