look at this way, anything can work but what works more effeicent? if your going thru hassle of building something why not do it properly instead of having any later second guessing? ive seen it where it has created issues with back pressure where loss of power
with the position of WG on the crossover style setups. it may seem as its only truely venting that one side of motor however in a boosted application all tubing prior to turbo is at pressure. so youll have some pressure from the one bank backing up and exiting as well as the driver's bank [well say]. ideal? no but its hard to get WG ideal position every time. But merger can be hard to overcome as well but if you have the opportunity then might as well do it correctly.
or all else vent it to atmosphere, my last setup i ran a muffler specificially for the wastegate, this helped get rid of the awful noise and made it more of a jet setup
