    Thanks

p.s. What do you do at NAS Pensacola?
it's a camshaft - 212/218 are the intake/exhaust valve lift specs, which are what cams are generally referred to by
for the harness, so long as both you & the donor use the same transmission, you shouldn't have to change anything that i know of

you can do the DBC swap on a newer motor, but i don't remember what all's involved. search around & you'll come across where people've done it before
00 FRC - just top end, exhaust, and a hot-air intake

Thanks for the info. I'm still shopping for a engine. A local guy has a 02 Tahoe with 87k and he wants 800 for the engine including wiring harness and comp. I'm not sure if I want to pull the trigger.

If the Tahoe has a different transmission? Can I send the harness off the new engine to nelson tune for them to make the mods?

same 4L60 in the tahoe - you're good to go. just check to see if the hoe has traction control or not - yes=DBW, no=DBC
and Nelson can do harness work (not that you'd need any - assuming the one they send is good). Current Performance Wiring did mine & i'm happy with it

If the donor has traction control and my truck dosent, is that an issue?

traction control means it has the electronic throttle body, if i remember right. you'd need to work out the conversion to one or the other

Ok, I'm not sure I know the differance between the two throttle bodys but I'll ask and make the changes if I need too.

I'm calling the wrecking yard tomorrow to tell them to start pulling the motor. I'll start a thread when I get it. it will be a month before I start putting it in. I still need to get engine mounts and all the other small stuff.

Thanks guys for your help. I really appreciate it

In dallas they hook to the PCM, make sure its the same year or newer pcm/tune, check for functionality, error codes and verify driveability checks. Next, they may put you on the rollers and install a tailpipe sniffer and check emissions. Be sure you have the cats installed for the visibility section of the inspection.

haha. makes me feel better about TN emissions.
they just plug it up, look underneath to see if it "looks like" you have cats, & check the gas cap seal. i was actually talking to the guy about my engine swap this year

Zebra i have ALOT!!! i called Nelson perf. today and they they would make a completely new custom harness for $650!!! OR i could send them a cable harness and make it work with my 03 for $450!!! im on a tight budget!! i can do either but i would rather save that $$$ for some LT's and a cam, ive read that if u have a 03+ truck u need to make it dbw cuz thats what all the 03+ v8 trucks are.. someone tell me what i need to do!!! LOL... cuz im LOST!!
