painting interior accents?

ok so no sanding the basecoat..... tack rag, ill have to buy some. I sprayed the last coat of paint last night at about 8pm. How long is good to wait between coats of the paint? also, how long should I wait after the last coat of paint to spray on the clearcoat? and how many coats will be good? 3-4? and how long between coats of clear? sorry bout all the questions, just wanna get this right

Correct. Do not sand the basecoat it is unnecessary. Rule of thumb for PPG paint is basecoat can sit 24 hours at 70* maximum to clear it. for every 15 degrees hotter the maximum clear coat time is divided in half. so at 85* you only have 12 hours to apply clear. I always wait about 10 minutes after my last coat of base to clear it. and about 5 minutes in between coats of clear. Remember I am talking about PPG here, dupicolor in a can Im sure is different. But to be on the safe side if you clear 10 minutes after your apply the base and about 5 minutes between each coat of clear you will be fine. 4 coats should do it.

as you may have noticed in the pictures, im using a bathroom as a paint booth. Its outside my house, its hot and humid @ 600pm. I wanna say its about 95degrees
after letting the part sit for about an hour, i brough it into my living room approx 75degrees

I came in to post about SEM paints but someone beat me to it. I restore airplanes and most of the times the interior plastic is far too expensive just to replace so I repair them and use the SEM paint to paint them and you wouldn't know it wasn't new plastic. Worth the $12 a can

so im on clear coat #2 on the part ive been working on, and since i dont have a good place to put the part, ive been using a cloth sleeve to hold it up and pivot while i spray.
so i put it down and noticed that a part of the cloth got caught on the drying clear! ah!
what are my options in this case?
can I wait till the clear dries and sand down, then clear again?

Depending on how bad it is you could have continued clearing and hoped is covered it up enough to sand and buff out. If you didnt continue clearing let it dry a day and just sand down and clear again, or base again if you sand to far

well, when i pulled back the cloth i thought it was fibers from the shirt that were left on the clear.... so i sanded it down with #2000 and found out it had actually pulled down to the paint revealing the primer. its about a 2mm circle. SUCKS!!!!!!

So I decided that the show must go on. Good thing its in the top, you cant see it if your driving. Will be a reminder to be more careful next time.
I sprayed about 2 more coats of clear and i let it sit over night. Today after work im gonna hit it with #2000 and polish it. Gonna use meguiars scratch remover/polish. Heard that works to remove the haze/scratches left behind from the sand paper and will give it the shine/gloss

You need to get some rubbing compound. 3m perfect it is what we use. After you get the shine back from the sanding then hit it with the swirl mark remover. The swirl mark remover its self will not remove 2000 gritt scratches
