i just got my goodmark cowl hood,(very impressed with the quality and packaging for shipping) i want to get it painted so ive called around and heard 200-250$ for painting it, my truck is silver birch, and 2 of the 3 shops i called said you have to paint it on the truck to match and the fenders have to blended in also. i can see what there saying but do you guys think i really need to do this, or just have the hood painted by it self?

Personally I would rather have a shade mismatch than blending paint on the fenders.

the silver shades are especially hard to match. You'll notice! I'd recommend doing it on the truck and letting them blend it. My best friend is a master PPG tech and he'd tell you the same.

I agree with stssilverado. I've done some painting on a few trucks and silver is by FAR the hardest color to match. I noticed a slight difference just by a variance in the amount of thinner I used (even though the paint came from the same gallon). Go with the blend, you'll be much happier.
