    let's not start this again. its illegal to put an older model engine in your vehicle. daily driving with a 454 will kill your wallet in gas even if its fuel injected. you will see better torque and horsepower curves with the 6.0. its not done because it actually working backwards. leave the stock motor in unless you plan on running 12's in that van.

    It is not always illegal to put an older motor in a newer car. In some states you are only required the emissions that were present on the old motor.

    The OP stated he wasn't worried about gas mileage. A 454 with good parts will eat a 6.0 for lunch and come back for seconds. Some of you are too caught up trying to find other trucks to race at stop lights on the street. All you know is the late model stuff. The late model big blocks weren't very impressive. But you need to get out to the dragstrip and see what is running the quick times. There might be a few newer motors running well, but for the most part the cars running the quickest times are still running big blocks. For every 10 second LS powered car, there are many more cars with BBCs running 9s or quicker.

    The name of this section is "V-8 Conversions". It is for small block and big block swaps (stated right under "V-8 Conversions"). I don't think it was put here to talk people out of a small block or big block swap.
