By the way, I bought it from Cleveland pick-a-part, ask for a guy named Gus. He was extremely helpful and friendly. They have two more in stock; one LS3 w/ 6speed trans and one more L99/6L80 combo, can't remember exact mileage but both were basically new still and around the same price as mine(which was $2000-3000 cheaper than any other yard could do)

Not changing cam just yet. I'm not sure I'll be able to hold the tires to the pavement as it is. Oh, and it came with accessories as well.

Hey anyone know where to get decent 60/40 bench seats at? I want to start on interior while I'm waiting on the driveline. I could even do a 40/20/40. I wanna leave room for my hunny to sit next to me(although she's probably gonna wanna be strapped into the 5-point.

    Progress

Got the frame back from paint. Everything's about to start going back on. I didn't originally plan on stripping it down this far, but its gonna pay off.

A couple of problems i've come across...

I got the a/c relocation braket by Kwik Performance, purchased from Current Performance, but it does not fit on the LS3. Hopefully they'll refund me. Anyone out there know if there's a kit for a LS3?

I have to build a custom trans cross member. It will be made out of 2" square tubing. I think 1/4" wall thickness should suffice. I'm going to make two saddles for the exhaust to fit through.

Today, i'm blasting and painting the control arms and spindles. Might get to the rear end, depends on how many beers are left

    that's all for now....

    Drive Shaft Question

A question for anyone out there....

My 6L80 has a triangular flange-type attachment with 3 bolts to hook up a drive shaft. What else will I need for the drive shaft. Correct me if i'm wrong, but it seems like there should be a slip-type yoke that allows the drive shaft to slidel/travel during driving and suspension changes.

Can they add a yoke in-line with the drive shaft?

Is there a different tail housing i need to buy that has a yoke-style connection?

    Help me out....

You can see a pic of my current setup in post #30

did a little more research, looks like i can remove that housing, revealing a beautiful 'ol output shaft....voila. Forgive me for my ignorance, and please by all means correct me if i'm wrong..........................

I guess i'll answer my own post, hoping it helps someone else.

Can't remove that tail housing with "propeller flange". It has seals keeping in the tans fluid.

I refered to the service manuals i purchased for the donor vehicle(2010 Camaro). The drive shaft is two-piece, which means the slip yoke is in the middle. Contacted the yard i bought the engine/trans from, they still had the two-piece drive shaft with all hardware and even includes the support bearing that holds the shaft up in the middle where the slip yoke is. $175 shipped, not too bad, but i'll need to spend more money to adapt it to the 10 bolt GM...

i don't think it was a 2 piece driveshaft since the rear is independent. i'd imaginge you would need a slip yoke driveshaft when swapping out for a straight axle though. i'd have a new driveshaft built and use the stock flange thats on the back of the 6l80e. imo
