I'm thinking of doing a swap from a 5.3 to an lq9 6.0. But I was wondering if after I did the swap. All my components on my dash would still work. It reads gas mileage, oil life etc.
Does the engine have to be from the same year or what?

yes, everything should still work just as before. put all your accessories, sensors and things on the LQ9. If you have DBC throttle you will need to swap intakes, too. Check the PN on the original injectors vs the LQ9 injectors, the later engines have larger injectors than most stock pre-02 injectors. Not sure of your vehicle since you didn't bother to list it.
