For every LSX 400 cfm head, there is going to be a 500 cfm big block head... it is a never ending debate it seems. for every 900 whp lsx engine there is a 1500 whp hp big block... google it

but how many 1500hp big blocks do you see driving around getting anything more than 4 mpg?

Who in their right mind buys any LSx, or big block for the fuel economy?

"There's no replacement for displacement", I can't believe no one on the big block side used that line yet. It's so true. Whatever you do to the smaller engine, do the same to the bigger engine. The bigger engine will win 100% of the time.

What it comes down to is, do you have the money to build a mountain motor that can reliably perform like an LSx can? I mean, you can cruise around with an 800 hp LSx dailey for a fraction of the price to make a big block do the same.

Either you want a big block, or you want a small block. There are no losers either way, only winners.

Hooray for making so much god damn horsepower, we have to argue about it!
GET OUT OF HERE WITH THAT RICER MATH!

I'm not to differ on that.
I said earlier in my post that I'd rather have a 11 sec ls1 car that gets 30 mpg (I have one 11.78@115 and it does get around 30 mpg hyway if I drive at 55 mph) than a 10 sec Big block that gets 10 mpg.

Our debate is ultimate power, ultimate 1/4 mile kings per mods..

Aftermarket blocks heads. sony Lenard makes some engine no LSX engine on earth could even dream on... 900+ cubic inch Big Block Chevy engines,,, 640 cfm heads (intake) flow.. 2100 hp no boost or nos.. Heads have massive 2.75 inch intake and 2.1 inch exhaust

    lets compare production sized heads..
Those 400 cfm heads for the LSX you talk about are..those Areo reserch heads.. 32 valve..
Areo makes also a 32 valve Big Block head that flow massive 570 cfm..

it never ends bud.. Big block are always 3 steps ahead of the LS.

Why not compared the best engines from Japan, Germany and Italy vs the LSX for making power per boost or N/A.. maybe you might get a win or a close call for 3nd place for the ls engines.

Big block Chevy's rules the planet for making power... (426 Chrysler Hemi is a close 2nd or tie maybe)

The LS gets great gas mileage. But I would guess that has a lot to do with the EFI and such, not because the LS is a miracle mileage motor.

I think if you were to build an LSX 454 and a big block 454 to the same specs both with EFI, the gas mileage between the two would be closer than you'd think. When you start putting a lot of cubes in a LS motor it's likely to become a bit of a gas hog just like a big block.

Many of you have probably noticed the LS 6.0 doesn't get the mileage a smaller LS gets.

And for those playing the price card. A big inch LSX isn't very cheap to build.

it may be an LS motor site, but when someone says "superior to Big Block Chevy" then your going to get a response... LS's are Chevy's GM etc.. so we like em here... and we or most of us also like big block Chevy's too and will defend em also.
sorry if I added to the fuel in this fire and helped to hijack the 454 thread..
I think the thread was dying on the 454 topic anyhow, and we are all just having fun anyways.
