    Corvette ls1 swap to a s10

I have a totaled 2004 GTO with a ls1 5.7 and I'm wanting to swap it into either a 85 s10 or a 94 Nissan hardbody. This is a first for me, but I do have a desent amour of mechanical ability. Anybody know how to do it? I have the entire car and the entire hardbody. Plan B is to yank the 4.8 from my 06 silverado and drop this. But wife says hell no.

put the GTO engine in the 06 and then put the little 4.8 into the hardbody.

+1 4.8 would be better for the hardbody or s10. 6.0 would be better for the 06

or if you want one regular truck & one "HOLYCRAPTHISISFUN" truck/hardbody, proceed as planned
00 FRC - just top end, exhaust, and a hot-air intake

It's the 5.7 LS1 the 06 has the LS2 4.8. Doing the silverado isn't likely to happen, the boss says no. But I found a 82 C10 short bed with no engine for $300. Any idea what's involved with doing this engine?

    check out
    LS1tech.com and hotrodlane.cc
That will get you started. As far as configuration the GTO LS1 is more like the f-body than the Corvette, which is a good thing for the swap in most cases.

Maybe I shouldn't have wrecked the gto. That would have been alot easier!

The 82 C-10 or any old square body truck would be great for that motor. There are tons of people putting the LS motors in them and they tend to be easier than the 88-98 obs from what I've been reading on here since you dont have to deal w/the electronics in the squares. But, if you are wanting to do the S-10 then go for it. There are several companies that make installing the LS into the S-10's a breeze. Good luck!

Having both a V8 '86 S-10 and an '83 C-10, both 2WD, I say the S-10 is the more challenging install, but is the better use for the LS1. I went LM7, but it's the same fitment.
