Ha the truck been tuned before to your knowledge? If so it could be locked by who ever tuned it.
If it's locked he wouldn't have been able to download the original tune. If you're using the Beta version of HPTuners, unload it and reload the 2.22 version and see if that fixes it. The beta version is hit and miss with a lot of vehicles.

+1, Also what is the outcome when trying to upload your stock tune?
i did try loading the stock tune back on and i got the same results. and i already have v2.22 so what gives?
Did you lock your tune in the HPTuners software? Also, you did have the key on for at least 10 seconds before attempting to load the tune, correct? Are the green lights on in the interface box? Also, check your cigarette lighter and see that the fuse isn't blown. The OBDII uses the same circuit for power to the port.

make sure your battery isn't low, hook up a charger if in doubt.
try a write entire.
