That's why Im doing it at work, parts department right there, enough knowledge (at least I hope so.) to make it easy. I'm 99% sure I've got all the parts gathered save for the DBW stuff, and it's on its way. Just need the balls to jump into it and do it, having a hard time the truck hasn't even broke 40000 miles yet. Gotta get pictures of my motor too, looks nice dressed up in Chevy Orange and some polishing.

Will the flywheel and clutch off of my 4.3l work with my 5.3l lm7 or do I need to get v8 ones? If so where is a good place?

Gotta get V8 (4.8) flywheel and clutch, Centerforce supposedly makes a nice setup. I'm just going OE for now as I plan on going T-56 down the road, and then I have to get a car-specific flywheel and clutch again

+1 on the 4.8 flywheel. i got my clutch from clutchcityonline dot com. so far it's holding up fine - definitely grips a lot better than the 4.3 setup. i ain't had a chance to really let it rip yet, so i can't comment on that yet.

here's a disc comparison from my build thread...

I got a question, My truck is a 05 with the 4.3, Im going to drop in a 02 5.3 with the DBC harness. Will the wiring be a straight swap with my auto tranny and pcm (which will be tuned for the swap)

Or will I have to have a custom harness of some sort?

they used the same transmission, so i'd reckon it'll work... i don't know about the DBC swap - that'll have to come from the OP or somebody

edit... come to think of it, i think there might've been a difference with the PCMs - the 02 used red/blue connectors while the 05 used blue/green ones. i ain't sure what kind of bearing that would have on the connectivity of the two, but it's something to note

Yeah I was wanting to stay DBC, since my truck is already there. So i see it being easy (er) to swap in a lil older motor.

If its just a matter of a plug or two swaping on the harness I can do that. guess Ill find out for sure

i think if you just get a matching DBC intake/TB, it should work fine... i think. you'd have to also make sure the fuel rail style will also work

Uhm no it's much easier to swap to DBW, the 05 bcm does not play nice with DBC, Chick tried it (04redwt?) and I looked into it a lot, scoured over wiring diagrams, a few gm techs I worked with tried to find a way to make it work. Trust me DBW is easier

The guys at street and performance know how to make a cable TB work in a DBW setup.
