Ok so when I put in my new transmission I cut out the cats since it was all ripped apart. I now have sims and everything works great with the slip fit pipes. Everything is welded and not leaking. When the motor is under a lot of load there is a rattle that is coming from the muffler. A friend of the family works at an exhaust shop and has told me it is the internal parts of muffler that is causing the rattle. I have a cutout about halfway back and when it is open it rattles louder and when it is closed it rattles more quietly. Either way I need to find a new muffler that can handle the pressure coming from the motor because of the fact that I have no cats. Has anyone done this and if so can you give me some pointers. Thanks a lot.

When my cats were hollow it would pop/burn the unburned fuel in the chamber of the cats. Until I replaced or totalled removed the cat it kept happenning. Good luck.

My cats are totally removed the problem is that there is to much pressure going to the muffler now because of there being no restriction due to having no cats. Any ideas? I think I can just get an aftermarket muffler but I don't know which one to get....
    Thanks

A new muffler can't hurt anything but your bank account. It might sound better too. Maybe you are running too rich or have burned exhuast valves. I'd start with the muffler. Get a good heavy guage unit, not a 19.95 autozone trash muffler.

I just thought of this...what about a glass pack? I think those can take quite a bit of pressure and not rattle because they are meant to rattle.....i think....let me know what you think and thanks a million for your help so far.

Borla makes a muffler that is used for race cars. Try an XR-1 Raceline
