    Front rotors

Just a simple question. My buddy has a 2005 GMC Sierra Z71. It is his 1st 4X4. He wants to turn his front rotors, because it has a groove cut into it. So with this being his 1st 4X4 the would like to know, because he heard, does he need a specail tool to remove/ instal the rotors from the CV shafts?

No, the rotor just comes off after you take off the caliper. There is no attachment of the rotor to the CV axle. The 05s have a screw that holds the rotor to the hub, but it is just a phillips head.
