    convert 4.8 to 5.3

    I have a 4.8 shortblock gen IV

I've seen the 5.3 and if im not mistaken they share the same bore - the difference is the stroke.

in order 2 convert it to 5.3 would i only need to change 2 shorter rod and longer crank.?

i know the gen3 5.3 motors also had dished pistons, except the VHOs - they had the same flat-tops as the 4.8
00 FRC - just top end, exhaust, and a hot-air intake
    99 Sierra - 5.3 / 5spd

to the OP your better off just finding another motor instead of going thru that hassle

to answer the question, yes a crank and rods would bring you to a 5.3L displacement, but if you bored the 4.8L out to 3.905'' and kep the stroke, you could build a high revving 327, which would be great with heads and a cam that had a high rpm range powerband
