    Grease points

Are there any grease points on the suspension on a 2WD 2004 Silverado? I'm getting ready to replace the lower ball joints, but didn't know if the uppers or anything in the rear suspension is greaseable. When I back out of my driveway, I hear a sqeak from the back. I put new shocks on a few months ago, so I know it isnt' that. Thanks!

When the spring packs started squeaking on my 2007 Classic, I took some bearing grease and packed it in the ends of the springs and the noise went away. PITA to do for sure. Jacked the rear up and let the springs droop, put the grease on the side of the spring and the slapped it to push the grease between the springs. It helps if you can use a pry bar or something to seperate the springs to get the grease between them.

Didn't even think about the U-joint. Lithium grease? What would be good to use?

If it is to the point it is squeeking, it needs replaced. The factory ones don't have grease zerks anyway.

I would hope it's not the U-joint going bad. I only have 89K on it.

well since he hears a squeak from the BACK then it probably isn't ball joints. Mine used to creak a bunch in the back to, I just hoped under and sprayed white lithium grease on the hangers on my truck. It went away after it got worked in.

You can try that before you spend a lot of money and time replacing ball joints.
