why are these motors so diffrent from 1 another...you can get two 5.3's with same bolt ons and produce alot more hp and tq than the other....you see that alot with then...just wondering if anybody has a clue to this story...

Its voodoo magic.....I think its variation in driveline, tire size and weight, and if Im not mistaken a short bed reg cab has a shorter drive shaft...does it make more torque because of drive shaft length.Iknow that a air impact has more power with a deep socket and no extension. Add a 8 inch extension to that and it loses torque(a little less, but makes a differance on how much power gets to the bolt to break it loose.

LQ9 built 4L60 LTs and a billion miles on the speedo!
Different cam, heads, engine accessories such as fans vs electric fans, different tunes, EGR or removed, different exhaust systems, manual vs automatic transmission, 2wd vs 4wd drivetrain loss...... So many variables.

The way an engine is broken in from new a lot to do with it. If you pussy foot around with a new engine and baby it durring the first 10k miles you will have an engine that is a pussy. If you run it balls to the wall out of the gate it will always run like its got the biggest balls of all. I have built more engines than I can count and that is what I noticed.Originally posted by bud8fan@Oct 22 2005, 09:55 PM

Let me tell you a story about two trucks purchased a week apart exactly the same the only differance was the color and bowtie. I beat the crap out of mine right off the lot, and after the first 100 miles I hooked my boat on to it and continued to flog it for an aditional 4k miles, from then on up to 10k miles. The beatings continued, fuel economy was rising power noticably increasing to the point if I wanted to roast the tires trought first gear and occasionaly chip second gear I could. All the while my buddy with a bowtie was incuraged to beat on his truck. He would say "I don't want to break it." I'd say "Thats what warrenty is for." We would play around and race when down the street. The street we work on is about 1/3 of a mile long and we are the only company on the street. He noticed I was beating him buy about a truck and a half. By this time I had 8500 miles and he had 7k miles. He asked how come you are beating me by so much more now and I told him it has to do with how the engine is broken in. Even when I put on the 05 wheels and tires whitch are 1.25 inches taller I could still beat him buy a fender. Thats my![]()
