How cold has it been where you live?

We are...every 10-15 thousand years the Earth goes through a cooling stage (ice age) and the last one was around 10-13 thousand years ago. Global warming is a money/power scheme.

Yea, that's all it is. I do believe in strict emissions however to keep our air clean as populations grow and pollute more. I do not believe in strict emissions for the reason that it will warm the Earth. You know how many volcano eruptions there are per year? Volcanoes pollute the air more than the human population...maybe they should start making catalytic converters for volcanoes.

I've always said the hardcore Environmentalists aren't giving Mother Nature enough credit. The global environment is a lot more resilient than they seem to think.

There is an interesting school of thought, however, that the earth's rotation is slowing down. This slowing of the earth's rotation is affecting the natural magnetic field (like putting an improperly sized underdrive pulley on an alternator at idle) which extends into space and protects us from solar flare radiation and such. Thus, any "global warming" can likely be attributed to the subtle weakening of this magnetic field.

According to the theories I've run across, there's actually evidence to say the earth has not only slowed down, but actually REVERSED rotation 3-4 times in the past. This may be the new theory to worry about, folks. If true, skyscrapers may be adding to the problem due to their natural wind resistance, I would think. Along the same school of thought, E-> W oriented dragstrips could then be seen as "earth friendly" since the torque applied to the earth's surface by the racers would infinitesimally, imperceptibly, AID the earth's rotation! I haven't seen this discussion actually raised, but that's my theory anyway.

The amount of slowing is so insignificant to us humans that we will be long dead before we see any effect. The magnetic poles have shifted several times. I am not certain about the rotation. I think the moon is to blame for the direction of our rotation if my memory serves correctly. The thing that most changes our climate regarding heat is that great big burning STAR that we love so dearly.

Think about how bad it is going to get in 30 or 40 years when we have multiplied like rabbits and have used all of the fossil fuels and we have mass droughts and famine and billions of people start starving to death because we cant bring crops in cause no fuel to run the equipment. . . . . . . .. . . . . I will stop now.

Plus, the earth's axis is also changing, putting Chicago closer to where Texas is now in relation to the sun. Have fun pushing snow every winter suckers! I'll be enjoying Texas like weather for the next 10,000-15,000 years!

Yep, nothing we have to worry about right now. There's also nothing we could do about it even if it was going to affect us.

As for the next 30 or 40 years...we need to stop the escalation of our population. That is our biggest problem, not global warming/climate change (which is natural), poles switching (also natural), or any other disaster. Scientists believe the Earth can only sustain 11-13 billion people at most. We will reach that number within the next century. That is probably when the human race will become extinct.
