Hey guys, first of all I would like to say this site is great! I've been reading around this site for the last few months to get a good idea of what all is involved with a swap I am planning. I decided to swap in a nice lq4 or lq9 in place of my old and tired 5.7 tbi. The project truck is a 1989 K1500 5 speed. I have a few remaining questions I need help with before I begin. Which Iron block 6.0 should I go with, and how can I properly identify it? There is a local wrecking service with just about everything I need to get. Only thing is, the place is 40 miles away, so I'm trying to keep the trips limited LOL. I will be reworking the harness myself. I plan on leaving just the bare essentials to run the motor. I know I will need to get the new pcm reflashed to operate properly. With that being said lets move on to the drivetrain. I will be running a wimpy nv3500 for now. What flywheel and clutch should I use to retain the trucks nv3500? I know it's a weak tranny but, I will be replacing it with an nv4500 a little further down the road. My next question is about fuel delivery. My tbi currently has 2 braided lines running into the throttle body. Can I just upgrade the pump and plumb those two braided lines into the 6.0's fuel rails? Lastly If using a DBC 2002 motor, what throttle cable should I get? I think the 95-99 vortec trucks are a direct swap, but I can't remember. Any help is greatly appreciated!
