GMC Radio Upgrade

Hello,

Does anyone know if a 6-disc AM/FM radio from a 2005 GMC will fit a 2003 Yukon with a cd/cassette (BOSE) radio? The external dimensions are the same, and the wiring appears the same, but I would like to know for sure before I buy it...

The main reason I want to upgrade is because the buttons are quite worn on my radio, and also some of the backlights on the buttons no longer work...

IIRC, you'll have to have the dealership program it.

Also, if the radio you are getting is Bose then you must have Bose too. Likewise for non-Bose. In other words; Bose radio+non Bose vehicle= no worky, non-Bose radio+Bose vehicle=no worky. However, we all know what I would do........chunk the factory junk and buy a pioneer 6-DVD changer 7" monitor(it's pretty sweet).

Ok, one more question: both of my vehicles have "BOSE" on the front door speakers, but the head units to not indicate "BOSE" anywhere (I have seen some head units that have BOSE on the faceplate). If I need to match Bose for Bose, how can I tell if the head unit is a Bose, if it is not on the faceplate?

You can't tell by the radio alone. If both of your vehicles are Bose and you are switching from one to the other then you should be okay. You might be alright anyway, but theoretically a radio built for Bose would only supply a low level output.

Ok, that makes sense! However, I am wanting to upgrade my Yukon to the same system as my Sierra. I took both units out and noticed that they have the same two connectors. On my Sierra, both connectors were used, but only the larger connector is used on the Yukon. My Sierra has steering wheel controls, my Yukon does not, but they are both BOSE speakers...
