It's possible. I'm assuming that you have a wideband to tell you that it was running lean. Driving it is not a big deal as long as you stay out of boost, but I definitely would not be making any track runs until I got the fuel system upgraded. It won't take much to fry a piston if you are running lean. If you start noticing excessive blow by, then the damage is already done.
