Cam questions

Can someone tell me a good cam to get?

I think I'm looking for something unrealistic.

I want a cam that sounds bad ass, a good lope, but I don't want to lose any pulling power or gas mileage.

Whats some suggestions? I dont understand the lift/duration thing yet. I'm really stupid when it comes to this and stall converters.

Yea, thats pretty un realistic. Get a big cam, add a stall, and you will quit worrying about milage. If you drive good, it wont affect it toooo much. I have a 218/224 on a 113 lsa. It sounds awesome, pulls hard, and I havent put my stall in yet. I love it.

Yeah I put in the Z06 cam so I wouldnt lose any driveability and gas mileage, I do need a stall though to help out the low end a bit. Its done really well, even when I floor it around town I still get the same gas mileage as I did driving normal when it was stock.

How does that Z06 cam sound? I'm still new to all this cam/stall stuff, thats why I wanna learn some about before I make a decision.

It sounds pretty good, not much of a lope at all, it is a GM cam after all so it just purrs at idle!

You can get new LS6 springs from Scoggin-Dickey for $52.25 if I remember correctly. That keeps the budget in check. There is an LS6 cam on Ebay right now for $100 current bid. These are only $250 new.

The only thing is, I kind of want a lope. Not a huge one, but enough that you can tell there's a cam in there. I'm just not wanting to sacrifice much low end torque or mpg. I know theres gotta be one for me, even if I have to get a custom grind of some sort
