Possible way to save some $$$ building a standalone sys..

Hey guys, I just want to share what my mechanic told me he have done before and works good, let me know what you think..
Ok, so in a standalone system, instead of buying a Fuel Pressure Regulator, he said that he gets a 6AN "T" and drills one of the three sides to where a HOLLEY jet will barely fit (the jet depends on how much FP you want) then you screw the hose that goes to the noids to that side to keep the jet from moving or anything. One of the other side will be the RETURN line and the other would be the feed line from the fuel pump.. He said this setup is better than a FPR because it's cheaper AND I won't get the pressure fluctuation that you get from the FPR(I didn't know they had any but that's what he said).

I will buy a Mallory FPR instead of going this way cause I think it will be a PITA to be changing jets A LOT to have my A/F ratio correct and with the FPR it will be way easier..

Should I give it a try? Or do you think it's hard to be truth? I find some things akward on that setup but let me know what you think of it or if anyone has done it like that..

MAYBE this would be a way to save $140-160 from a FPR..
    Thanks ppl!

I'm not 100% sure how aftermarket regulators for fuel injection work...

But the factory one changes how much it regulates based off of vacuum, you get a higher psi when you rev it up. i know they sell regulators for carbs and electric pumps that are a constant pressure. High end regulators might do the same thing. I would personally worry about a jet clogging up and not spraying enough fuel. It was a problem with carbs...not sure why it wouldn't happen with this system, especially if you don't use it for a while.
blown transmissions are about as useful as 97% of the guys on this forum

or you can search up PN#GF822 on summit racing. it is a fuel pressure regulator and a fuel filter built into one. they come factory on 2003 corvettes. only about 60 bux but ive heard of people getting them for 40.

The return style fuel systems use variable fuel pressure, the returnless use fixed.

Anyway, to the OP...sounds like a complete pain in the ass to me. I'd just buy a FPR and be done with it.

Yeah, get the corvette fuel filter that is internally regulated at 58 psi. Wix number 33737
