    Post Need some advice.

To start off I am looking to do a V6 to V8 Conversion on my 2000 Silverado 2wd. The manual transmission currently in the truck is screwed so I'm looking to replace that and I figured I might as well throw a V8 in as well. I have found a 2003 GMC 4.8L 5 Speed 4x4 with 64 000kms. Sounds great... problem is he used it to do a lot of 'bush wacking' - hauling out trees, pulling stuff, other farm work, and I guess he's replaced one clutch already. The truck has been pulled apart, no box or front clip, I don't know if he has the rad or shroud. The engine looks to be complete I don't think he has hacked up any wires or anything. I know I am taking a risk if I buy this truck which I have no history on... my guess it's lived a pretty hard life by just looking at it.

    My questions..
What do you think this is worth?

What would be some potential problems with the swap? I know I would have to swap the DBW pedal and system.

Is this a NV3500 Transmission? Would the tail stock from my transmission swap over to this?

Thanks a lot for any help and insight on this guys/gals.

I won't buy anything from a truck like that, for the same reasons I won't buy a half finished project.

I wouldn't touch it due to the fact that they set the truck up to go thru water. There too many good trucks out there to get parts from that haven't been treated like swamp buggies.

thanks a lot guys, I just really want a V8 in my Silvy but buying this would have probably gave me a lot of headaches and hit my pocket book pretty hard.

It's a little bit of a drive for you but I got all my swap stuff at #9 Auto Wreckers, between Orangeville and Newmarket, they got a lot of low mileage stuff for decent prices
