sounds like the plastic gear is broken on the motor

They don't sell just the motor to my knowledge. I've had 2 drivers regulators and 1 passenger regulator go out. I just bought some at advance auto and they came with a lifetime warranty.

Hold the button down and slam the crap out of the door. If it starts working the motor just had a dead spot in it. The clicking is most likely the over-current protection breaker opening due to high current spikes from trying to move a stuck motor. The motors are available by them selves the last time I checked, in fact most of the GM regulators no longer are available with a motor on the trucks.

Mine were $90 each and were the whole assembly. 4 years ago when the same things happened all I could find was the whole assembly as well. That's not to say they don't exist, I just didn't see any other options.

Yeah, my point was that the regulator used to be the most common failure but they made you buy the motor with it...now the the regulators are OK, they only sell the regulator by itself...and it's a pain to swap the motors on these without the cables coming unwound. Use two pair of vice grips and some patience.

I would imagine so. I wish they would make one with a beefier cable too. I had one snap which was a pain. Unfortunately, due to experience I can swap a full assembly in about 5 minutes.

Yep, assembly is easy....can't have the UAW workers do something tough on the assembly line. Lets' see one of them swap the motor though.

My passenger's side is slow and the driver's side pops when it gets to the top. Same problem?
